Traffic will be diverted on key stretches, including Chennai – Bengaluru Highway (NH 48), in Old Katpadi area in Vellore on Thursday due to a bull race event in the area. According to a press release, traffic diversion for vehicles is aimed to facilitate free flow of traffic on key routes in the district during the bull race, which will be organised as part of the local temple festival. As per plan, vehicles will not be allowed between Chittoor bus stand and Brahmapuram Road. Instead, all vehicles (excluding trucks), should use Odai Pillaiyar Koil Street, Auxilium College Road junction, Puthu Koil Street, V.G. Rao Nagar to reach areas like Brahmapuram and surrounding villages. Vehicles coming from Brahmapuram should only use the diverted route to reach Katpadi railway station and Chittoor bus stand. Vehicles proceeding towards Tiruvalam from Chittoor should use Vallimalai Main Road and Sekkadu Road. The traffic diversion will be in place between 6 a.m and 3 p.m on the day. Educational institutions should plan accordingly for safe transport of the students, the release said.
