RAJESH Minister for Social Welfare P. Geetha Jeevan opened the ‘Selvamagal Semippu Thittam’ accounts with her personal funds for 102 girl children from the district on Tuesday and handed over the passbooks to their parents. After the ‘Selvamagal Semippu Thittam’ account is opened by the parents or guardians of the girl children below the age of 10, the beneficiaries can get the maturity amount at the age of 18 with 8.20% interest. Hence, Ms. Geetha paid the first installment of ₹250 for 102 girl children with her personal funds and handed over the passbooks on Tuesday.
