A man and his son were found dead near a farmland at Nagaroor on Tuesday, reportedly after coming into contact with an electric fence. The dead were identified as Kochunni, 60, and his son, Akhil, 32, both residents of Chenkikkunnu. Their bodies were discovered in a small stream adjacent to a tapioca plantation near the Nagaroor block office. According to the police, the duo is suspected to have been electrocuted late Monday. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fence had been illegally connected to a power source, purportedly to prevent wild boars from destroying crops. The victims are believed to have touched the live wire while walking near the plantation. Notably, the electric wiring was found to have been hastily dismantled by the time police personnel reached the spot, official sources said. The bodies were later shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram. The Nagaroor police have taken two persons, Venugopalan Potti and Gopalan, into custody in connection with the incident.
