Holi festival was celebrated with joy in parts of Belagavi on Tuesday. Some parts of the city will celebrate it on Thursday.

Young children were on the street since morning. Most of the students facing PU examinations, however, stayed home.

A large number of believers organised Urulu Seve in front of the Sri Ashwathama Temple in Pangul Galli in the Old City. Kam Dahan rituals that started on Monday evening continued beyond midnight on Tuesday.

A large number of women and girls participated in the Holi Milan organised by Abhay Patil Foundation, headed by MLA Abhay Patil.

The festivities began with a Lavani song and dance. The crowd, including young and old, men and women, danced to the songs of Kannada, Hindi and Marathi films till late afternoon.

Holi celebrations and a rain dance were organised on Belagavi Club Road.

The police restricted traffic in the Old City areas like Pangul Galli, Risaldar Galli, Khadak Galli and surrounding areas.
