The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Tuesday directed the State to constitute the Board of Trustees for Subramaniya Swamy Temple in Tiruchendur in Thoothukudi district in four months.

A Division Bench of Justices N. Sathish Kumar and M. Jothiraman passed the direction while disposing of a public interest litigation petition filed by B. Ramkumar Adityan of Tiruchendur in Thoothukudi district.

He said in the absence of the Board of Trustees, the temple administration has been solely under control of one individual Thakkar. This led to decisions being made unilaterally without proper consultation, deliberation or collective recommendations, resulting in a lack of transparency and administrative accountability.
