Andhra Premier League (APL) matches will also be held in Mangalagiri and Kadapa this year and won’t be restricted to Visakhapatnam only, said APL general council chairman R.V. Sujay Krishna Rangarao.

Addressing the media after holding a meeting with APL franchise owners, in Vijayawada on Tuesday (March 3, 2026), Mr. Sujay Krishna Rangarao said that plans are under way to conduct APL-Season 5 in a grand manner. Owners of seven teams took part in the meeting and reviewed measures and arrangements to be taken for the next season.

Thanking the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) for supporting the conduct of APL Season–5 matches, Mr. Sujay Krishna Rangarao said that the Mangalagiri stadium is being developed at a cost of ₹35 crore to facilitate matches in Season–5. Similar arrangements are being made in Kadapa and other stadiums where matches and practice matches are going to be held. This time, too, they will support and encourage rural talent, he said, adding that this year, APL will begin in June.

Andhra Cricket Association president and MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) said work on developing the Mangalagiri stadium for hosting the APL Season 5 matches is under way. At Kadapa too, minor works remain to be completed, he added.

With the motto of taking cricket to rural areas, the ACA is developing stadiums in Kakinada, Bhimavaram, and Anantapur, Mr. Sivanath said, adding that the Mulapadu stadium in NTR district is being developed as the Centre of Excellence.

The player auction will be held on April 25. The first match of the season will be held on June 3 in Mangalagiri. The final match will be held on June 28 in Visakhapatnam. Domestic district matches are being conducted two months in advance. The council members said players will be selected based on talent through the auction process.
