Members of the Federation of Revenue Associations (FERA) on Tuesday staged a waiting protest on Madurai Collectorate premises urging the State government to fulfil their charter of demands.

The protesters stated that they were overburdened by excessive workloads and unrealistic deadlines. They highlighted that a pre-existing staff shortage was being exacerbated by the government’s implementation of various special schemes.

“While officials are mandated to execute these programmes, they are doing so under immense pressure. Instead of further burdening current staff with additional duties, the government should prioritise filling existing vacancies across various departments,” said Ilakiya, district secretary, FERA.
