Sleuths from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC), Erode detachment, on Tuesday (March 3, 2026) arrested an Executive Officer of a village panchayat in Perundurai block for reportedly accepting a bribe. The arrested was identified as Marichamy, Executive Officer of Nichampalayam village panchayat. Sources said, Dinesh, a resident of Nichampalayam, had applied for the transfer of his late father Shanmugam’s name in the property tax receipt. It is alleged that the official demanded ₹6,000 to process the application.
