The Lokayukta office in Bengaluru | Photo Credit: File photo Shivamogga Lokayukta police caught the Bhadravati Block Education Officer (BEO) and another person taking a bribe of ₹1 lakh from an official, and arrested them, on March 2. The arrested individuals are Nagendrappa A. K., BE0 of Bhadravati, and Manjunath, who acted as a middleman in the deal. The Lokayukta police acted on a complaint filed by Lingaraju, office superintendent in the BE0’s office. Lingaraju had requested the BE0 to clear his salary dues and arrears pending for the period 2011 to 2023. The BE0 and Manjunath demanded ₹4 lakh to clear his dues. Lingaragu filed a complaint with the Lokayukta, who arrested the two individuals in the BEO’s office around 7 p.m. on March 2. The operation was carried out by a team led by Inspector Gururaj N. Mylara under the guidance of Lokayukta Superintendent of Police M. S. Koulapure, and Deputy SP B. P. Chandreshekhar. Lokayukta Inspector Veerabasappa L. Kusalapura has taken up the investigation.
