In January this year, Chennai’s Pumpkin Tales hosted a harvest table led by Canadian chef Jeff Van Geest, in association with The Hindu’s Lit for Life, the annual literary festival of the publication. The 14th edition of the festival saw a registration of over 12,000 for both days of the programme. .

At the Harvest Table, a six-course contemporary Italian meal was made with produce sourced from local farmers. All proceeds from the meal were to be donated to the Tamil Nadu Seed Savers Network, a farmer-led initiative that works on conserving, protecting and distributing indigenous and climate-resilient seeds.
