The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) on Monday condemned the alleged online abuse directed at Sangeetha, wife of actor-turned-politician Vijay, following reports of her filing for divorce at the Chengalpattu Family Court. In a statement, the association said the divorce petition was a private legal matter and criticised supporters of Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, for allegedly circulating obscene and derogatory content about her on social media. It termed such posts as “digital violence against women” and said they could not be justified as freedom of expression.
