Minister for Small Scale Industries and district in-charge Sharanabasappa Darshanapur has said that the case registered against Mallikarjun Mutya, head of a mutt in Mahal Roja village in Shahapur taluk of Yadgir district, was hurriedly done.

It wasn’t a case of inappropriate behaviour by the Mutya as it is being made out, the Minister added.

Speaking to media representatives in Yadgir on Monday, Mr. Darshanapur said that the Karnataka State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights acted urgently and issued a direction stating that the case be registered.

When a twisted video went viral on social media platforms and also on TV channels, the Commission acted upon it in an urgent manner.

“I have seen the video; I found nothing improper in it. The Mutya is seen expressing his affection for a minor in front of her parents who met me and broke down over the way it was highlighted,” the Minister said.

When asked about the withdrawal of the case as demanded by devotees, the Minister reacted sharply stating that the case couldn’t have been registered as he hadn’t done anything wrong.

When questioned about the current tension in the Gulf region, the Minister promised that the government will take action to protect people from the State who are stranded there.

He targeted the media for spreading rumours and said that there is no chance of a change in leadership in the State.

MLA Channareddy Patil Tunnur and others were present.
