Srinivas producing the accused and the seized red sander logs before the media in Tirupati on Monday. | Photo Credit: HANDOUT The Red Sanders Anti Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) on Monday (March 02, 2026) seized red sanders logs weighing around eight tonnes and achieved a major breakthrough in curtailing their movement. Acting on a tip-off, a team tracking the movement of some smugglers on the run went to Siddhapura village in Hassan district of Karnataka on Sunday night (March 01). With the support of the local police, they raided a godown in the vicinity and arrested eight persons. Following up on the information provided by the arrested accused, the police raided an open shed resembling a poultry farm and found 195 logs and vehicles. The value of the seized booty is around ₹5 crore. Task Force head L. Subbarayudu and Superintendent of Police P. Srinivas, who inspected the seized wood, announced reward for the team.
