The Dalit Labour Unorganised Union will organise a public procession on Thursday at 11 a.m. as part of its Jaggalagi festival. Addressing presspersons in Hubballi on Monday, organisation president Vijay Karra said that the procession aims to highlight the history of leather work and the cultural heritage of the community. The event will feature a grand march accompanied by the traditional leather instrument Jaggalagi, symbolically remembering the community’s history, heritage and cultural identity. The programme is being organised jointly by the Dalit Labour Unorganised Union and various Dalit organisations. The procession will commence at Durgadbail and proceed via Broadway Road, Shivaji Circle, Koppikar Road, Sir Siddappa Kambali Road and Sangolli Rayanna Circle before reaching the Municipal Corporation (HDMC) premises. Floral tributes will be offered to Sangolli Rayanna and Sir Siddappa Kambali and the procession will conclude with offering a garland to Ambedkar at the B.R. Ambedkar Circle.
