Minister for adequate budgetary allocations to encourage sports

Sports and Youth Services Minister Vakiti Srihari asked officials to ensure that adequate allocations are made for providing financial assistance to sportspersons from the State who won medals in different categories of sports in the ensuing budget.

The government is committed to provide financial assistance to students from school to university levels excelling in sports as it will help hone their skills. The Minister reviewed the status of facilities to sportspersons and the budget proposals that were being prepared for them with senior officials on Monday.

He reiterated that the government was committed to encourage sports. It had therefore brought in a new sports policy to promote sports in different categories in this direction and ensure that Telangana was number one in the country in sports’ promotion. He directed the officials to prepare guidelines relating to incentives proposed for sportspersons and ensure that they were implemented effectively.
