The Water Resources Department (WRD) will soon begin construction of distribution canals from Kottarai reservoir built across Maruthaiyar river in Perambalur district. The department recently notified that about 54.92 hectares of land is under acquisition for the project. The lands were in Kottarai, Adhanur (North), Adhanur (South), Gudalur, Koothur, Sathanur, Thondapadi and Pujangarayanallur villages in Alathur taluk and Perali (South) and Othiyam villages of Kunnam taluk in the district as per the notification.
