Women welcome the formation of another dedicated stand for them, apart from two existing ones | Photo Credit: Meghna M. S. Logannayaki, an autorickshaw driver for 15 years, had come to the Shenoy Nagar Metro Station to drop off customers. A couple of Metro users, seeing an auto available, climbed in and asked her to wait for them. However, a male auto driver was quick to approach them and demand that they get off her auto. “He directly told them, ‘She is not part of the auto drivers’ group here. There is a stand right here for us. You [customers] must take only these autos’. He didn’t even look at me or address me,” recalled Ms. Logananayaki. “The customers, though frightened, fought with him. But he did not back down. Finally, they got off my auto and opted to walk rather than hire an auto at all.” Published – March 02, 2026 12:17 am IST Share this: Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Click to share on Threads (Opens in new window) Threads Click to share on X (Opens in new window) X Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window) Telegram Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Click to email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email More Click to print (Opens in new window) Print Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window) Pocket Click to share on Mastodon (Opens in new window) Mastodon Click to share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window) Nextdoor Click to share on Bluesky (Opens in new window) Bluesky Like this:Like Loading...
