Ten Left parties condemned the joint military action by the United States and Israel on Iran, calling it a grave violation of international law and Iranian sovereignty. In a joint press statement, the parties denounced the attack on Iranian territory, including strikes near the residence of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and on civilian targets such as schools. The statement was issued by V. Srinivas Rao of the CPI(M), G. Eshwaiah of the CPI, P. Prasad of the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) New Democracy, B. Bangarraju of the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation, Katam Nagabhushanam of the Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Communist Party (United), Jasti Kishore Babu of the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist), B.S. Amarnath of the Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist), P.V. Sundararama Raju of the All India Forward Bloc, and Janaki Ramulu of the Revolutionary Socialist Party, along with Y. Ramakrishna representing CPI (ML) New Democracy. They criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Israel, alleging that India’s stance represents a complete 360-degree reversal from the previous Indian governments’ traditional support for Palestinian rights. The joint attack on Iran occurred in days after the Prime Minister’s visit, suggesting a link between India’s foreign policy orientation and the ongoing conflict, they alleged. The Left leaders demanded that the Government of India formally condemn the strikes on Iran. They called on peace-loving citizens to oppose what they consider a shift in Indian policy, and urged global solidarity with the Iranian people against “imperialist aggression.” They described the bombing as an act of imperialist aggression, highlighting the killing of innocent children and civilians as evidence of extreme disregard for human life. They stated that the attacks violate the United Nations Charter and multiple global agreements, urging democratic forces and citizens to reject such actions. The leaders condemned Israel’s continuing military operations in Gaza, asserting that despite announcements of a ceasefire, attacks had persisted against Palestinian civilians.
