Sholavandan railway station inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Madurai on Sunday.

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a video conference from Madurai Airport on Sunday inaugurated new infrastructure development works worth ₹ 9.86 crore carried out at Sholavandan Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.  

Serving the residents of Sholavandan and its surrounding rural and semi-urban areas, the station provides a vital rail connectivity to one of the State’s most prominent urban and cultural hubs. As an essential rail corridor, it facilitates daily travel for education, trade, and regional mobility.

Some of the important facelifting works carried out at the station were installation of two lifts serving platforms 1, 2, and 3, a new ticket lounge building, development of the waiting hall to enhance passenger comfort, raising and resurfacing of platforms 1 and 2 to enhance passenger safety and for ease of boarding and alighting, development of the approach road, bike parking facility and a compound wall.
