Two manufacturing units in Jalpally were raided by the police, leading to the arrest of four persons for allegedly producing substandard ginger garlic paste in unhygienic conditions. The accused have been identified as 45-year-old Abdul Sattar, 21-year-old Mohd. Israil, 18-year-old Mohd. Iftekhar and 19-year-old Noor Nabi, all residents of Jalpally in Balapur. According to the police, acting on a tip off, the teams conducted raids on “SK Royal Enterprises” and “Shahi Gold Companies” located at Wadia Mustafa Nagar in Jalpally. The units were allegedly manufacturing ginger garlic paste using low quality ginger and synthetic food colours without adhering to Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) guidelines or possessing the required licences. Officials said the products were being processed and packed in unhygienic conditions and supplied to local shops, thereby putting public health at risk. Police seized food colour boxes, large quantities of packed and loose ginger garlic paste, garlic and salt bags, labels of both companies, weighing, grinding and mixing machines, and packing material worth Rs 10 lakh.
