A large number of residents of Idankanni on Saturday laid siege to the police station at T. Palur with the body of S. Selvakumar, 38, who ended his life reportedly due to the police excesses while questioning him for drunk driving. According to sources, he was found to have consumed alcohol when the police checked his vehicle on Suthamalli Road. However, Selvakumar reportedly denied the allegation. This led to heated arguments between him and the police personnel, who registered a case of drinking and driving against him.
