Holiday excursion packages operated by KSRTC budget tourism cell proved to be a major success in the district, collecting ₹38 lakh in revenue during the Christmas-New Year period. Kollam depot emerged as the highest earner, bringing in over ₹9.24 lakh. Kottarakkara and Chadayamangalam followed closely with earnings of ₹7.56 lakh and ₹5.96 lakh, respectively. Other contributing units are Karunagappally with ₹5,60,120, Punalur with ₹3,42,980, Pathanapuram with ₹2,55,790, and Chathannoor with ₹2,32,260. The depots at Kulathupuzha and Aryankavu also added ₹90,000 and ₹34,400, respectively, to the total earnings.

In connection with the Thiruvairanikulam Nadathurappu festival, special bus services will operate daily from the Kollam depot. The fare is set at ₹850 for deluxe buses and ₹1,100 for low floor AC buses. Additionally, the budget tourism cell has scheduled trips to Gavi on January 6 and 30 for a fare of ₹1,750. On January 10 and 25, trips will be operated to Munnar-Kanthalloor (priced at ₹2,380) and Panchalimedu (priced at ₹820).

KSRTC has also announced special trips from the Kollam depot for the month of January. The Illickal Kallu trip will depart at 5:00 a.m. on January 11 and 24, with a fare of ₹820. On January 17 and 31, trips to Wagamon (₹1,020) and Ponmudi (₹650) will be conducted. A Kanyakumari tour is scheduled for January 18, departing at 4:30 a.m.; this package includes visits to Thripparappu waterfalls and Padmanabhapuram Palace for ₹800.

For those seeking longer journeys, a trip to Nelliampathy, Palakkad, will commence at 9:00 a.m. on January 22, priced at ₹2,000 for a two-day, two-night duration. Additionally, a luxury cruise experience on the Nefertiti is set for January 26. For ₹3,840, passengers will be taken from Kollam to Ernakulam in a Low Floor bus for a five-hour sea cruise.
