Telangana Jagruthi president and MLC K. Kavitha said that the Assembly boycott of the BRS weakened the opposition’s responsibility to question falsehoods on the floor of the House, and wanted to know whether the boycott decision was taken by Mr. Harish Rao personally or by the BRS high command.

Speaking to reporters in Suryapet, she wanted to know why water allocations for Palamuru–Rangareddy and Narayanpet–Kodangal projects were reduced, and who approved the reduction in Telangana’s water share. She demanded clear answers on agreements that allegedly reduced Telangana’s share by 3%, and on the shifting of intake points from Jurala to Srisailam.

She said that despite announcing a discussion on Krishna River water sharing, the government failed to hold a comprehensive debate involving all stakeholder states. The BRS boycott only helped the government, she felt.

Ms. Kavitha criticised the government for maintaining silence on Karnataka’s decision to increase the Almatti dam height, which could result in Telangana losing nearly 100 TMC of water.
