Two students drown in tank in Gadag district

Two high school students who had gone for swimming in a tank near Mulagund in Gadag district drowned on Saturday.

According to sources, the deceased Basavaraj H. Badageri, 15, and Parashuram M. Waddar, 15, were residents of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Government Pre Metric Hostel of Mulagund and were studying in class IX at SJJM Composite Junior College in the town.

After finishing their classes at 11.30 a.m. on Saturday, the deceased, along with four others, had gone to the tank on Kallur Road for swimming. Basavaraj and Parashuram first jumped in to the tank and drowned and four others who were still on the bank alerted the local residents.

The Mulagund Town police inspector, Sangamesh Shivayogin, visited the spot. The fire brigade personnel were pressed into service to fish out the bodies.
