A 10-day-old infant was received in the Ammathottil cradle of the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare at Thycaud here on Saturday at around 8 p.m. The infant was given a preliminary examination and then taken to Women and Children Hospital, Thycaud, for a detailed medical check-up. Since she was found to have health issues, she was admitted at the hospital. The girl child was named Pourna. Anyone claiming the child should contact the council at the earliest as her adoption procedures have to be initiated, council general secretary G.L. Arun Gopi said in a statement. Thirty children have been received by the council at the Ammathottil in Thiruvananthapuram from September 2025 till now, with Pourna being the first this year.
