Veteran BJP leader B. S. Yediyurappa was felicitated in Shikaripur on the occasion of him completing 83 years on Friday.

Responding to the felicitation, he remarked that he had the single aim of bringing the BJP to power in the State again by touring the length and breadth of Karnataka. Stating that he would make honest efforts to bring the party to power, he appealed to the party leaders to cooperate with him.

The former Chief Minister said he had the satisfaction of working for the development of oppressed communities. He maintained that the Bhagya Laksmi scheme implemented by him had brought light into the lives of crores of girl children.

Similarly, he had given importance to irrigation to ensure that farmers heaved a sigh of relief, he noted.

BJP State president and Mr. Yediyurappa’s son B. Y. Vijayendra recalled that his father had worked as legislator eight times, besides being an MP and serving as Leader of the Opposition.

He thanked the people of Shikaripur by stating that they had introduced Mr. Yediyurappa to the country.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and a large number of BJP leaders from across the State attended the felicitation programme.
