Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on Friday (February 27, 2026) inspected the Thanthai Periyar Library and Science Centre, which is likely to be named Periyar Arivulagam, being built at an estimated cost of ₹300 crore at Gandhipuram in Coimbatore.

The centre is coming up on 6.98 acres of land belonging to the Coimbatore Central Prison. The proposed structure has a built-up area of 1.98 lakh square feet with a ground floor and seven floors. The Chief Minister had laid the foundation stone on November 6, 2024.
