Higher Education Minister R. Bindu called upon engineering students to actively engage in research-oriented activities and develop innovative products and services that address societal needs.

The Minister said students should adopt a research-driven approach and utilise their technical knowledge to create solutions that benefit the nation and the community. She also emphasised that the government has made consistent efforts to modernise technical education in tune with changing times.

“This government has worked earnestly to transform technical education in a contemporary manner. We have attempted to implement revolutionary curriculum reforms with a strong focus on practical and skill-oriented learning,” she said.

Dr. Bindu was speaking after inaugurating new buildings of six higher education institutions in the state at the Government Engineering College Thrissur on Thursday. At the college, she inaugurated the new Mechanical Engineering Block and a Structural Engineering Block for the Civil Engineering department, constructed at a cost of ₹10.48 crore. The Minister also virtually inaugurated infrastructure projects in various colleges across Kerala.

Thrissur MLA P. Balachandran presided over the function. Former Minister V.S. Sunil Kumar was the chief guest.
