A court here on Friday sentenced two persons to six years’ imprisonment for cheating a job aspirant of ₹7 lakh in 2014. According to the prosecution, on January 11, 2014, G. Rajendran, 42, of Vellithiruppur and M. Chennappan, 40, of Bhavani, falsely claimed to be officials of the Central Excise Department and promised to secure a government job for S. Rajesh, 28, of Jambai in Bhavani. The duo received ₹7 lakh but neither secured a job for Rajesh nor returned the money. Based on a complaint lodged with the District Crime Branch, the police registered a case, arrested the two accused, and filed a charge sheet after investigation.
