Teacher held for abusing student in Palakkad

A school teacher was arrested for allegedly abusing a student after giving him liquor at Malampuzha near here. Anil, an upper primary teacher at a Malampuzha school, was held for the abuse which allegedly took place at his quarters on November 29.

The teacher allegedly gave liquor to the student, who belongs to a scheduled caste community, until the child became intoxicated and then abused him. The incident came to light after the boy disclosed it to a friend who subsequently alerted some elders.

The Police Special Branch began an investigation based on confidential information and arrested Anil in connection with the case. He was later produced before a court here and remanded to judicial custody.
