CM Rekha Gupta inaugurating the wiring project at Chandni Chowk on Thursday. | Photo Credit: ANI Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday announced a series of power infrastructure projects, including an underground cabling drive in Chandni Chowk, a new grid substation in Mandoli, and four battery energy storage system (BESS) projects aimed at meeting rising electricity demand in the Capital. The underground cabling project in Chandni Chowk aims to remove hanging overhead wires from 28 streets and lanes, including Kucha Mahajani, Bhagirath Palace, Jama Masjid Road and Nai Sadak. The Delhi government, in partnership with BSES Yamuna Power Limited, will lay nearly 52.5 kilometres of electricity lines underground at an estimated cost of ₹159.75 crore. Around 10,000 consumers are expected to benefit.
