In a bid to find a solution to recurrent structural stability issues in the Cholavaram reservoir, one of Chennai’s key drinking water sources, the Water Resources Department (WRD) has sought technical support from the Central Soil and Materials Research Station.

A team of officials from the research institute, functioning under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, recently inspected the reservoir, which is currently able to store only half its designed storage capacity owing to structural vulnerabilities.
