The Chittoor district police on Thursday organised an extensive student outreach under ‘Dhairya Sparsha’ initiative at ZP High School in S.R. Kandriga of Palasamudram mandal. Nearly 1,000 students from across GD Nellore Assembly constituency participated in the camp.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Tushar Dudi and trainee IPS officer Tarun Pahwa were welcomed by the students and villagers with a band performance, after which police personnel explained the objectives of Dhairya Sparsha. Students presented skits highlighting the ill-effects of drug abuse, the dangers of rash driving, and the social and legal consequences of child marriage.

Addressing the gathering, the SP said that police should instil fear among offenders while remaining friends with students. He warned students against speeding and rash driving, and urged them to use helmets at all times. The SP further cautioned them about cyber risks, such as clicking on unknown links, and called for a collective stand against drugs. The SP said that prevention of child marriage is a shared civic responsibility, adding that timely information could save young lives.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tarun Pahwa stressed the importance of trust between police and students. He informed the students to report suspicious or illegal activities in their neighbourhood to the area police.

Later, the officials unveiled the Dhairya Sparsha posters and presented certificates and mementos to students for excellencing in quizzes on cyber safety, road safety, and anti-drug awareness.
