The district committee of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) will organise a public meeting outside the Kozhikode Corporation building near the Kozhikode beach on Friday to protest against the alleged attempts by the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the BJP to gain political mileage out of the tragic death of four labourers in Valiyangadi in the city recently.

The event will be held at 7.30 p.m. CPI(M) leader and former Deputy Mayor C.P. Musafar Ahamed and other LDF leaders told the media on Thursday that both the BJP and the UDF had staged protests at the site of the tragedy and at the office of the Mayor when relief work was in full swing. They alleged that attempts were made to put the blame on the Kozhikode Corporation. They claimed that the Corporation had been taking action on unfit buildings whenever such instances came to its notice.

Mr. Ahamed claimed that the condition of the building where the tragedy happened had not been brought to the attention of the Corporation. The LDF leaders also demanded that more compensation be provided to the family members of those who lost their lives in Valiyangadi.
