District Collectors of Tirunelveli, Tenkasi and Kanniyakumari received ‘Girl Child Protection Day Awards’ from Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on Thursday for improving the sex ratio. District Collectors R. Sukumar of Tirunelveli, A.K. Kamal Kishore of Tenkasi and R. Alagumeena of Kanniyakumari received the awards which is being given every year on February 24 coinciding with the birth anniversary of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to the best performing District Collectors for improving the sex ratio.
