The Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has prevented an attempt to encroach upon the government land in Neknampur on Wednesday. It has secured 2,700 square yards of land earmarked for public use, fenced it off and installed boards indicating that it was a government land.

As per the information shared through a statement, government had allocated 59.14 acres of land in the survey no. 31 of Neknampur in Gandipet mandal of Ranga Reddy district to Secretariat employees in 2002. Five years later, a layout was developed, and a colony came up at the location.

As per the approved layout, 2,700 square yards of land was earmarked for a park and for public utilities. However, owning to the land being hilly and uneven, the park was not developed, and eventually, it was converted into plots and sold.

The person who intended to usurp the land, obtained building permission on another plot in the adjacent Venkateshwara Colony, which had already been built upon, the note said.

Foundations and pillars had been laid and preparations were underway for laying the slab when representatives of the colony’s residents’ welfare association filed a complaint with HYDRAA during Prajavani programme.

Following the complaint, HYDRAA officials, along with municipal and Revenue authorities, conducted a field inspection and found the irregularities.

Apart from these encroachments, temporary sheds erected on five other plots, which had been carved out of the same land and sold earlier, were also removed, the statement said.
