The Srirangam Crime police has arrested a security person of the Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy temple after he allegedly stole foreign currency notes during the periodic counting of currency notes offered by devotees into the hundials. A case against the accused K. Shankar, 48, was booked on Wednesday on a complaint from the temple superintendent R. Venkatesan after the crime came to light. Police sources said a group of temple staff was involved in counting cash taken out from the hundials on Wednesday morning inside the temple premises.
