A couple was arrested in connection with the murder of an 83-year-old woman in Namakkal on Wednesday (February 25, 2026). The deceased, K. Rathinam, alias Rathinammal of Kalivelampalayam near Tiruchengode, lived alone. On Tuesday morning (February 24, 2026), nearby residents alerted the Tiruchengode Rural police and Rathinam’s relatives after finding blood traces near Rathinam’s front door. The police rushed to the spot and found the aged woman dead in her house. Five special teams were formed and inquiries revealed that a construction worker was involved in the murder.
