The Coonoor Consumer Protection Association has opposed calls from LPG gas cylinders distributors to increase delivery charges. S. Manogaran, president of the Coonoor Consumer Protection Association, told The Hindu an additional amount of ₹15 was being collected under the name of “hill area delivery charge,” over and above the rate fixed by the gas companies. “It is being stated that permission from the District Collector has been obtained to collect this additional charge. At present, the gas distributors have requested the district administration to increase the delivery charge up to ₹60,” he said in a letter to the Chief Minister, appealing to the district administration to not allow for an increase.
