The district administration has declared a local holiday on March 2 in view of ‘masi magam’ festival to be celebrated in Hindu temples at the ‘Mahamagam’ tank, Kumbakonam in particular, on that day. According to official sources, all government establishments, other than essential services providing institutions, and educational institutions, including private schools and colleges, will remain closed on Monday and will function on Saturday, March 14, in lieu of the local holiday.
