Kasaragod MP Rajmohan Unnithan on Thursday challenged Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to order a judicial inquiry into the alleged attack on Health Minister Veena George in Kannur on Wednesday. Addressing reporters, the MP ridiculed the claims that the Minister was attacked. “It might have been a ‘kuttichatan’ (imp) that struck her neck,” he said, asserting that Kerala Students’ Union activists had not attacked the Minister as alleged. If the government has nothing to conceal, it should be ready for an independent and transparent investigation to bring out the truth, he said. The MP further alleged that the “script” of the Kannur incident was prepared by Speaker A.N. Shamseer and claimed that both the Chief Minister and the party secretary reached the hospital within minutes and played predetermined roles in what he described as ‘staged sequence of events’.
