A 20-year-old person and three others escaped unhurt after their car caught fire in Nandanam on Tuesday night. A senior official of the city police said A. Dhanush, a resident of Jafferkhanpet, was travelling to Saidapet with his friends in his car. When they reached Pasumpon Muthuramalingam Road in Nandanam, Dhanush noticed smoke coming from the AC vent. He stopped the vehicle to check the engine. Subsequently, the front portion of the car caught fire. Upon being alerted, the Fire and Rescue Services personnel from Nandanam Station went to the spot and put out the fire. However, the car was completely destroyed.
