The Kerala High Court has ordered that a competent official, preferably from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, appear virtually before it on March 11, to enable the establishment of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the State. This followed a plea by AIIMS Kasaragod Janakeeya Kootayma, which has been seeking speedy measures to establish the institute in the district.
