Tharuvaikulam Coastal Security Group (CSG) police seized around 2,695 kg of beedi leaves intended for smuggling to Sri Lanka, at Therespuram Mettupatti beach, in the early hours of Wednesday. Acting on a tip off the CSG Police carried out an inspection at Therespuram Mettupatti beach area. Upon seeing the police, individuals loading beedi leaves onto the boat, escaped by boarding a boat that was kept ready.
