The police have arrested two burglars involved in a series of thefts in the Sedam and Malkhed police limits and recovered gold and silver ornaments worth ₹26.54 lakh from them, according to Superintendent of Police Adduru Srinivasulu.

Addressing presspersons at the Police Bhavan in Kalaburagi on Wednesday, Mr. Srinivasulu said that the accused used to recce residential localities, identify locked houses and meticulously plan the break-ins before making their striking. They then decamped with gold and silver ornaments.

Following multiple complaints, a special team was formed under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Mahesh Meghannavar and Chincholi Deputy Superintendent of Police Sangamanath S. Hiremath.

After investigating the cases from various angles and using technical evidence, the team arrested 26-year-old Karan Pawar, a resident of Jhalaki Tanda, and 45-year-old Ramdas Chavan, a resident of Kamsir Nayak Tanda in Aland taluk.

The police recovered 15.5 grams of gold ornaments valued at ₹25,57,500 and 340 grams of silver ornaments worth ₹96,900, totalling ₹26,54,400, from them.
