Suresh, Founder Vice-Chancellor and present Pro-Chancellor of JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award for Academic Excellence by the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA), at the 11th Global Pharmaceutical Quality Summit (GPQS) held in Mumbai recently. Considering his four decades of contribution to pharmaceutical education, regulatory policy, quality culture and professional engagement, the award is given to Dr. B. Suresh in recognition of his academic leadership as President of the Pharmacy Council of India, and Vice-Chancellor of JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, contributing to regulatory reforms and modernisation of pharmacy education and pharma industry, a press release from JSS AHER said. Receiving the award, Dr. Suresh reiterated the importance of structural collaboration between industry, academia, and regulators. Dr. Suresh said India’s vision of becoming a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047 demands transformation across sectors — and healthcare is central to this journey. As such, a developed India requires pharmacists trained in advanced regulatory science and global quality systems, competency in AI-driven manufacturing, data integrity, and pharmacovigilance and ethical leadership embedded in professional practice. According to Dr. Suresh, a ‘Viksit Pharmacist’ is not merely a dispenser of medicines, but a custodian of quality, a partner in patient safety, and a contributor to national health security.
