B.Y. Raghavendra, Shivamogga MP, held a meeting with district-level officers and reviewed the progress of development works, including railway and road-widening projects, here on January 3.

The MP reviewed the progress of the four-lane of NH 206 (Tumakuru – Shivamogga – Honnavar), the railway overbridge at Hosur and Talaguppa, the four-lane road connecting Nellisara Camp to Tirthahalli (NH 169), and the bridge at Bikkodi on Byndoor-Ranebennur Road (NH 766C).

He also reviewed the progress of the four-lane road in Sagar Town (NH 206) and the bypass for Shikaripur town.

Besides these, the MP suggested the officers take up the construction of skywalks at major points in the city where pedestrians struggle to cross the road owing to heavy traffic.

Regarding the railway line connecting Shivamogga and Ranebennur via Shikaripur, the MP said that the acquisition of land between Shivamogga and Shikaripur had been completed. However, the land acquisition between Shikaripur and Ranebennur is still on. The State government had promised to release ₹45 crore for the project within a week.

Shivamogga Deputy Commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatti, Chief Conservator of Forests K.T. Hanumanthappa, Superintendent of Police Nikhil B., and others were present at the meeting.
