Deputy Commissioner Fouzia Taranum speaking at a training programme for bidders in Kalaburagi on Friday. | Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT A training programme was organised on Friday to familiarise bidders with the e-auction process for liquor licences, including CL-2(A) and CL-9(A), which are lying vacant across the State. Inaugurating the programme, Deputy Commissioner Fouzia Taranum said that, for the first time, the Excise Department was allotting vacant liquor licences through a transparent e-auction process, as announced in the current year’s State Budget. A total of 569 liquor licences across Karnataka will be allotted through the online auction, she said, adding that interested bidders from Kalaburagi district could participate in the process. The training was held at the MRMC SAC (Student Activity Centre) located in the CPM Boys’ Hostel campus of HKE Education Institution in Kalaburagi city. The Deputy Commissioner said the technical training had been organised to provide detailed information on the e-auction process, as licences were being allotted through online bidding for the first time by the Excise Department. She urged bidders to make full use of the training and clarify any doubts with technical experts present at the venue. The e-auction will be conducted through the MSTC Limited portal (www.mstccecommerce.com), a Government of India enterprise. The auction for Kalaburagi district licences will be held on January 13, while the auction for Yadgir district licences is scheduled for January 14. In Kalaburagi district, 15 licences, including 12 CL-2(A) and three CL-9(A), will be allotted, while six CL-2(A) licences will be allotted in Yadgir dstrict. Technical officers of MSTC Ltd., Satish Kumar and K. Ravi, along with Excise Department officials, provided detailed information on the e-auction process to bidders from Kalaburagi and Yadgir districts. Excise Deputy Commissioners Sangangouda P. (Kalaburagi) and Sharada P. Kolakar (Yadgir), Excise Superintendents Hanumantharaya Vajramatti, Ramanagouda Mudigouda and Indubai, among other Excise officials, were present.
