According to the police, the fire is suspected to have originated from the adjacent graveyard, where garbage containing dry leaves had been set ablaze. Due to strong winds, the flames reportedly spread to the police station’s parking lot. Around 40 seized vehicles were parked within the premises. Officials said the presence of leaked oil and petrol in some of the vehicles caused the fire to spread rapidly, intensifying the blaze within minutes. Passersby first noticed thick smoke billowing from the station premises and alerted the personnel inside. Police staff immediately rushed out and attempted to control the situation. A water tanker was summoned initially to douse the flames before the Fire and Emergency Services were alerted. Firefighters battled the blaze for nearly half an hour before bringing it under control. No casualties were reported in the incident. The police have registered a case and further investigation is under way to ascertain the exact cause of the fire. No one was injured and goods and other material in the stations were intact , a police officer, said.
