The government is aiming to bring about a scientific and standardised mine closure and repurposing paradigm that would focus on generation of new jobs for displaced communities and environmental sustainability, G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Coal and Mines, has said.

Inaugurating a two-day national workshop on ‘Moving Beyond Extraction – Mine Closure and Repurposing’, Mr. Kishan Reddy called for a mining closure paradigm that was “scientific and responsible”.
